An Almanac for Moderns by Donald Culross Peattie. Engravings done by Asa Cheffetz and signed by Asa Cheffetz. Printed in Washington: Limited Editions Club, 1938. Hardcover. Book is Very Good to Near Fine with slight rub top and bottom of spine and bound in full spring-green linen with a tree stamped in black at the center of the front cover and gilt decorations surrounding.  Slipcase  is Good to Very Good Condition with signs of use and sunning on front opening strip. As it occurs to me, this is an excellent copy of this famous work with a new introduction by the author and the wonderful wood engravings by Asa Cheffetz. AN ALMANAC FOR MODERNS, the day-to-day observations and thoughts of a naturalist, was awarded the Gold Medal of the Limited Editions Club. One of 1500 numbered copies (# 989) SIGNED by the artist on the page after the last page of the book, page 338.
